Flagler County notified of a positive COVID-19 case

March 20, 2020 – Flagler County has been notified by the Florida Department of Health that there is a person who tested positive for COVID-19 in Flagler County, who is a resident of Volusia County. Public health officials attribute all COVID-19 cases to the state and county of residence for the individual that tests positive. Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord reminds Flagler County residents not to focus on the number of COVID-19 cases, and to focus instead on the one thing that will keep the community safe – follow the public health guidelines established by the Florida Department of Health and the CDC.

Flagler County is committed to protection of our community and will work closely to implement additional public protective measures should they become necessary. We urge all of our residents and business to follow Department of Health and CDC guidance, to include:

  • Washing your hands often
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • If you are sick and/or told to self-isolate

                  o   Covering coughs and sneezes
                  o   Wearing a face mask around others
                  o   Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces daily.
