Prescribed fire a success but without FireFlight – broken connector halts aerial ignition
January 22, 2021 – Land Management successfully completed a 46-acre prescribed fire Thursday at Princess Place Preserve but despite meticulous planning, it was not the launch of FireFlight as a tool of Flagler County’s mitigation program. A broken connector for the aerial ignition machine it was fitted with prevented it.

January 21, 2021 – Flagler County’s FireFlight helicopter is no stranger to fire (hence its name), but typically it is fighting wildfires and not starting them as part of the Land Management prescribed fire mitigation program. That all changes today (Thursday) when FireFlight will be equipped with an aerial ignition machine to set fire to 46 acres within Princess Place Preserve.

January 20, 2021 – Flagler County Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord has been appointed to Florida’s Domestic Security Oversight Council, which was established after 9-11 to coordinate efforts to respond to and recover from acts of terrorism that affect the state.
