Prescribed Fire Program Supervisor recognized for life-saving actions during California deployment
October 20, 2020 – Firefighters from a variety of agencies throughout the state, including Flagler County, regularly deploy to help fight wildland fires elsewhere in the country. It’s not very often, however, that they face a “historic and unprecedented” perfect storm of conditions that allowed 215,000 acres to burn in 24 hours – requiring leadership skills and experience to kick in to save the lives of the 11 people in one’s charge.
Tax Collector limits services at Government Services Building ´until further notice' to accommodate voters
October 19, 2020 – With the line of people waiting to vote wrapped around the front and west side of the Government Services Building, Tax Collector Suzanne Johnston made the decision to limit services at the main office “until further notice” to accommodate the extra traffic at the building.
Plans in place for smooth voting process at the Government Services Complex despite parking lot construction
October 16, 2020 – Flagler County officials consider facilitation of this election a high priority, and to that end has taken extraordinary measures to make sure voting is as easy as possible despite parking lot construction. All visitors to the Government Services complex will expediently find a parking space, and voters will be directed to reserved parking nearest the Supervisor of Elections office.
